Panic Button FAQ
What is Rescue-as-a-Service?
Our new service-based pricing model allows us to lower our pricing to new customers so that Rescue can be more affordable and help save more lives. Previously, when customers ordered Rescue hardware, they purchased the units fully, owning the hardware outright. Under our new model, customers do not own the hardware, but pay for the system as a service. Unlimited support, training, set up and maintenence are included under this new pricing model.
How hard is the set up process?
It’s very easy. The goal is to get you set up in a single morning or afternoon. The hardware can all be self-installed with the support of your facilities or IT staff. We provide the screws to install the base station anchor to the appropriate location on your wall. The same is true for the charging station, which could also be placed on any table. The only critical element that may involve IT will be extending Ethernet wiring to the Alert Station for power (PoE) and network connectivity. The device also has cellular connectivity which will serve as a backup in the event your network goes down. From a software standpoint, there is a simple setup workflow that an administrator can follow to set up Rescue devices using the Rescue dashboard. Our team is happy to walk you through this over a Zoom call.
What is the range of the Wearable Device?
This depends on your environment but you should expect approximately 1,000 feet of connectivity between the wearables and the alert stations. With direct line of site connectivity this can be far surpassed, however with thick cement walls or metal doors the range could be reduced. Please monitor the Rescue dashboard to gauge signal strength in your environment.
Will I know if the battery dies or if the wearable devices are out of range?
Yes, you can set up monitoring in the Rescue dashboard for your wearables. This includes battery and range monitoring. In these scenarios, you can pre-set administrators to receive push notifications (in PunchAlert or STOPit Notify), SMS, and Email in the case that a wearable is taken out of range or if the battery level is dangerously low.
Will I know if the Alert Station is offline?
Yes, the station will switch from white lights to yellow lights. Additionally, much like the wearables, you can set up monitoring alerts for your Base Stations that include connection switching, temperature and humidity warnings, and most importantly, online or offline status alerts. These will notify your designated administrators via push notifications, SMS, and email.
What happens if the device gets a little wet from a splash?
It should not activate unless it is submerged in water. The wearables have two recessed water sensors that only activate an emergency if a circuit is closed by full submersion of both complete sensors. The likelihood of this happening from a splash is extremely low. However, if you hold the wearables with extremely wet hands, it’s possible to activate the wearable and cause a false alarm.
Do we need to wait to use the wearable again after a water event?
Simply open up the PunchAlert or STOPit Notify mobile app and inform your team of the false alarm. If you don’t have the app, tell someone else who does. Then any responder can categorize as False Alarm (we recommend you create that category for record keeping) and then resolve the emergency.
What happens in the event of a false alarm?
No, within one minute of a water activation the wearable is ready to go again and sense another water event (or button / fall event). However, we recommend drying the wearable with a towel or even your shirt to ensure that the water sensors are not saturated. If they remain saturated then they risk not identifying a change in water exposure in the event of a re-submersion moments later.
Can I order an extra Alert Station for my front desk or other locations?
Yes, we offer all components of our platform in individual itemized form as well, so you can have extra wearables, alert stations, and/or charging stations. If you simply need double of everything, then we would recommend simply ordering another standard package.
